A band formed in Seattle Washington in 1994. A drummer of a band that disassembled due to a tragedy formed a one-man band. Dave Grohl came up with a band name due to his fascination with UFOs. He decided on the name Foo Fighters. He sent off his first demo and it did a lot better than he thought. As the music industry grew an interest in his music, he assembled a band to play all the instruments. As he assembled his band, Grohl licensed the album to Capitol Records. The Foo Fighters have now released nine albums since 1994. Four out of the nine albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. As 2015 approached the Foo Fighters sold 12 million copies in the United States alone.
