2025 has already been a busy year for alternative music with new releases. If you’re always on the go, then you might have missed a few of this year’s releases. We’ve outlined three albums that you should take a listen to. All three albums explore different sounds like alternative, rock, grunge, and punk.
The Human Fear- Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand released their seventh studio album, The Human Fear, on January 10, 2025. The Human Fear has 11 songs and is 35 minutes long. The songs include “Audacious,” “Everydaydreamer,” “The Doctor,” “Hooked,” “Build It Up,” “Night Or Day,” “Tell Me Should I Stay,” “Cats,” “Black Eyelashes,” “Bar Lonely,” and “The Birds.”
The Human Fear explores new territory for the band with experimental punk sound.
The band released “Audacious” as a single in September 2024, “Night or Day” in November 2024, and “Hooked” in January 2025.
Oh! The Ocean- The Wombats
On February 14, 2025, The Wombats released their sixth studio album, Oh! The Ocean. The album has 12 songs and is 45 minutes long. The songs are “Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want To Come,” “Can’t Say No,” “Blood On The Hospital Floor,” “Kate Moss,” “Gut-Punch,” “My Head Is Not My Friend,” “I Love America And She Hates Me,” “The World’s Not Out To Get Me, I Am,” “Grim Reaper,” “Reality Is A Wild Ride,” “Swerve (101),” and “Lobster.”
Oh! The Ocean explores themes of mental health and fame and a classic more upbeat sound for The Wombats.
The Wombats have only released one single from this album so far. “Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come was released in September 2024.
Welcome to My Blue Sky- Momma
Momma released their fourth studio album, Welcome to My Blue Sky, on April 4, 2025. The album has 12 songs and is 39 minutes long. The album includes “Sincerely,” “I Want You (Fever),” “Rodeo,” “Stay All Summer,” “New Friend,” “How to Breathe,” “Last Kiss,” “Bottle

Welcome to My Blue Sky has an alternative rock sound pulling inspiration from ‘90s grunge.
Momma released four singles including “Ohio All The Time” in October 2024, “I Want You (Fever)” in January 2025, “Bottle Blonde” in February 2025, and “Rodeo” in March 2025.
