It’s the time of the season, Record Store Day is returning for the second time this year with special Black Friday Releases! This will be your alternative music guide to the best new grabs from this year’s selection, along with just some personal favorites. Let’s dive into some of what 2026’s Record Store Day Black Friday has in store for you!
Starting off with an American 80’s alt band: 10,000 Maniacs 6-LP Boxset: Candy Everybody Wants. This huge boxset features their albums from the years 1982 to 1992; or all of their Elektra Studio albums. It features the albums: Hope Chest (1983), The Wishing Chair (1985), In My Tribe (1987), Blind Man’s Zoo (1989), and Our Time In Eden (1992), along with a Vinyl of rarities and demos. It’s a boxset with everything anyone could want from the Maniacs, as per the title suggests. There will be 2600 copies of this boxset distributed to local record stores so keep an eye out.
Next is one for those who’ve probably heard new alternative in short-form videos on their timeline: Dexter and the Moonrocks 12” Vinyl single: Freakin’ Out. This one was a real hit when it came out earlier this year, and so celebrating its popularity, it’ll have an exclusive RSD release as a 12-inch single. Side A has the titular song along with a live version of it and Side B has an etching of Texas on it. Pretty good grab if you like up and coming new alt artists that are making quite a name for themselves online! Only 1800 copies will be distributed throughout the US!
Post-Punk lovers this one’s for you. Ramones 7th Album Demos: Subterranean Jungle Demos. This is another good one for those who love unreleased tracks or the beginnings of what became hits. Features 14 demos from their 1983 album Subterranean Jungle, all recorded in 1982. All previously unreleased to the world, now printed in yellow vinyl. 5500 copies will be released so you’ve got a pretty good chance to grab one near here!
Finally for 2000s kids and adults: Staind Break the Cycle: 25th Anniversary Live. This limited-edition picture-disc vinyl features every track of the full album all performed live. This includes some of their greatest hits from “Outside” and “Fade” and of course “It’s Been a While”. Only 2000 copies of this 2001 album will be available so if you want one, be ready!
Those are some of the alternative music highlights of this year’s Record Store Day Releases! Hopefully this will guide you along your journey to grabbing some of this year’s new exclusive vinyl. RSD Black Friday won’t just have alternative of course and if you want to see the full list you can click here to browse through all 187 releases!
