Local Music Spotlight: The Strangers

The Strangers are a four-piece band from Southern Indiana. The station will be debuting their Blues and Folk-rock music to the station with their tracks “Dead and Dazed”, “Electric Love”, “Fear Your Lies”, “Goon” and “Sweet Holly”. Their music is reminiscent of a time past, emulating the greats of Led Zeppelin, Audio Slave, and Soundgarden.

The band is made up of Lucas Washington on lead vocals, Rylan Cox on guitar, Kadin Rea on bass, and Teelin Atteberry on drums.

In April of 2021, the band received the devastating news of their drummer passing away from an accidental overdose. Noah passed away during the midst of a string of shows and before recording their first album that the station will be debuting. After this tragic event, the band came to a halt and was unsure of how to proceed.

They discovered shortly after Noah’s funeral that he has recorded all of their songs prior to his passing, and so the band carried on. They recorded what was remaining to finish their first album- keeping the original recordings that Noah had done.

The album 957 will be premiering is a tribute to their dear friend who will forever live on through these songs played and listened to.

“Making good of a tragic situation takes courage, humility, and grit; the same qualities that make a great rock band. Against the odds, The Strangers have arrived, and, through their music, they live.”
