The 1975

The 1975, a British band formed in Manchester, has become a defining voice of modern music, blending elements of rock, pop, and alternative. The band formed in 2002 at Wilmslow High School where Hann recruited Healy to be the drummer of a band that he was forming with MacDonald. Healy took over as lead singer when the original singer dropped out of the band. Band members include Matty Healy as the lead singer, George Daniel as the drummer, Ross MacDonald as the bass guitarist, and Adam Hann as the lead guitarist. The band continued to play throughout college at local restaurants while attending university.

In 2010, the band got a manager, Jamie Oborne, who signed them to his own independent label, Dirty Hit.

The band went through several name changes including Me and You Versus Them, Those 1975s, Forever Drawing Six, Talkhouse, The Slowdown, Bigsleep, and Drive Like I Do before landing on The 1975.

Before the release of their debut studio album, the band release four EPs: β€œFacedown EP,” β€œSex – EP,” β€œMusic For Cars EP,” and β€œIV EP.”

The 1975 (2013)

On September 2, 2013, the band released their first studio album under exclusive license to Vagrant Records and Interscope Records, The 1975. The album has 16 songs and is 51 minutes long.
