The band includes Neil Smith, leader singer and rhythm guitarist, Christopher Vanderkooy, lead guitarist, Peter Wilton, bassist, and Mikey Pascuzzi, drummer. The band formed when high school friends, Smith and Vanderkooy, decided to collaborate on a project in 2014. Wilton and Pascuzzi joined shortly after. In 2016, the band released its debut EP, Sweet FA. Their video for the song, “Peach Pit,” from their 2016 debut EP, Sweet Fa, has more than 25 million views. “Alrighty Aphrodite” spent 15 weeks on Billboard’s Canada Rock chart, peaking at number 37.
