Jokers Wild Music Blogs Uncategorized by 957thespin - April 14, 2023April 14, 20230 I am not one that watches much TV, but I was drawn to the “Impractical Jokers” at an early age. They consisted of “four friends that compete to embarrass each other.” The four of them, Joe Gatto, Sal Vulcano, Brian Quinn, and James Murray, dare one another to do outlandish tasks that many would never consider doing. At the age of 11, I had the opportunity to see these four, from Staten Island, NY, in person, as they made one of their tour stops in Evansville. A young kid, getting to see my television idols, I was in awe. It was the first time that I had ever seen a “famous” person live. I was a kid in a candy store, watching a night of their comedic antic. I was not disappointed. Since then, and more recently, Joe has left the foursome, for personal reasons. But this past November, Sal Vulcano made a solo appearance at the Victory Theater in downtown Evansville. I knew I had to go. Once again, I am glad I did not miss it. Not knowing what to expect, with just him, it was nothing but laughter throughout the night, from his opening act until he finished his act. He even told a story from when he and the others were here 9 years earlier. Fast forward to March, another joker was coming to make a solo appearance. Joe Gatto returned to Evansville for a true night of comedy. Since I considered him my favorite, it hurt to see him leave the group. If you saw him on the show, his stand up was exactly what you expected and more. He was typical Joe Gatto, which was a good thing. He stayed true to his roots and told many stories that included his “life-long” friends. It was so good to see him again. If you have never seen the television show “Impractical Jokers” or any of them in person, you are missing out. They will leave you in stitches and wanting more. The three remaining jokers will be in Indianapolis on July 28th, and yes, I will be there, and I hope you will be there too. ~ Ryan Allega
